Zoom around docklands with Mazda at Motor Show

Mazda’s Zoom Zoom Challenge at July’s British International Motor Show will win one lucky show-goer a Mazda MX-5 2.0 Sport roadster for a year. Participants will have the chance to pilot a Mazda RX-8 PZ and Mazda MX‑5 on a purpose-built test track created on the the site of this year’s show in docklands. 300 metres-long, the open-air track will host Mazda’s challenge from 10 am to 8 pm every day at the show. Following a practice lap, drivers will run two timed laps. One will be taken in a Mazda RX-8 PZ and the other at the wheel of a Mazda MX-5. But winning will not be all about speed! Participants, who must be over 21 and hold a full driving licence, will be accompanied by a professional. He will run through getting the most from the car, while assessing control skills, smoothness, and what Mazda describe as a ‘Zoom-Zoom’ attitude. Mark Cameron, marketing director, Mazda Motors UK commented, ‘We believe that the best way to communicate the spirit of Britain’s favourite sports car brand is to present this exciting opportunity at the show, offering visitors a unique driving experience in our award-winning sports cars.’ Show visitors taking the Zoom-Zoom Challenge will be allocated a time-slot for their drive and will receive a full safety briefing. Thousands of people are expected to sign up to the challenge throughout the show. Mazda will also present the world premier of the all-new MX-5 hardtop on their stand. Visitors will be able to see the car, and sign up for the Challenge, from 20 – 30 July 2006, when the show opens to the public.
