Nova Scotian priorities like the environment, energy, and tradeare at the top of the agenda at this year’s conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers, Premier John Hamm said today, Aug. 28. “Nova Scotians want to build on the strength of our economy, to protect our natural environment, and to promote our offshore,” said Premier Hamm. “This conference is a tremendous way to get those messages out to our neighbours in New England and Eastern Canada.” “At the same time, by working together as a regional body on both sides of the border, we can bring a strong, focused voice to better manage our oceans, strengthen our economic links, and work to resolve challenges we face,” said the premier. The premiers and governors will also meet with Canada’s ambassador to the United States, Frank McKenna, and the U.S. ambassador to Canada, David Wilkins. The 29th conference of the New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers takes place today and Monday, Aug. 29, in St. John’s, N.L.
