French Open: Rohan Bopanna and Gabriela Dabrowski knock out Sania Mirza and Ivan Dodig to enter mixed doubles semis

first_imgSeventh seeds Rohan Bopanna and Gabriela Dabrowski made their way into the semi-finals of the mixed doubles at the French Open thanks to a straight sets victory over Sania Mirza and Ivan Dodig on Monday.Bopanna and his Canadian partner Dabrowski registered a 6-3, 6-4 win over the Indo-Croatian duo of Sania and Dodig in less than an hour at Roland Garros.On Sunday, Mirza and Dodig booked their place in the last-eight after sweeping aside New Zealand’s Artem Sitak and Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina 6-2, 6-4 in a one-sided second round contest.Sania’s campaign at Roland Garros came to an end with this defeat. Sania and her Kazakhstani partner Yaroslava Shvedova were earlier knocked out of the women’s double event after they suffered a 6-7 (5), 6-1, 2-6 loss against Russian pair of Daria Gavrilova and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the first round.Meanwhile, Bopanna and Dabrowski registered a 6-3, 6-2 win over the French duo Chloe Paquet and Benoit Paire to storm into the quarter-finals.Bopanna however, was knocked out of the men’s doubles event after he and his Uruguayan partner Pablo Cuevas suffered a 6-7, 2-6 defeat against the Brazilian-British team of Bruno Soares and Jamie Murray.last_img
